barszcz

My name is Maciej Marczewski (alias ‘barszcz’). I was born in 1981 in Augustów, Poland.

For quite a long time I was travelling the world looking for a place to live and interesting activities to do (I lived and worked in Toruń, Poznań, Wrocław, Gdańsk, London, Paris) and finally I came back to my home town and started my own business in creating and designing websites and graphics.

Work experience

I graduated from Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science on Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń with bachelors degree in computer science.

In 2006 I started working for BenQ company in Wrocław in creating software for UMTS mobile phones (BenQ-Siemens brand). I worked with phones EF81, EF82 and SL91 using technologies like Python, Perl, Bash, C, BREW, Subversion, CM Synergy.

After company’s department in Wrocław was closed I moved to Gdańsk and started work as a web developer and administrator in Clever Age Poland company. I worked creating applications for clients like Remy Cointreau, Dermscan, PIKA, 1Habitat (as a project manager) using technologies: Delphi, Java, PHP, Symfony framework, Python, MySQL, Firebird, jQuery, XHTML, CSS. I also lived one month in Paris working for mother company (Clever Age) modifying French CMS named K-Portal for client needs. I also configured and administered client’s servers and company’s servers (also for mother company in Paris).

In 2008 I started my own business (BRSC Projekt) and started long term work for WebsGo! company in Gdańsk where I worked in Contails project. I was writing code in Python and Java languages, modifying Funambol server for application needs and managing technologies related to mobile phones (SyncML, OTA).

In may 2009 I finished cooperation with WebsGo! and from that moment I work for my own.

Hobby

I like to read, jog, bike, swim, travel, talk to interesting people and listen to music. Some time ago I started to avoid big cities as there’s not enough green and free space which I’m addicted to :)
When it comes to computers I like to play with Photoshop, admire interesting graphic projects, work on interesting and developing projects. I am a fan of Linux and Open Source solutions.
